of course, this »learning« is not only happening from this person whom you might want to call teacher or professor: you learn from everyone, from everything.
of course, learning about space is predominantly happening by absorbing, feeling, analysing spaces; plus perhaps a little introduction hereunto. should you agree so far, then it sure will be self-evident, that a space-teaching purposed space could by no means be undermined with that polygreyish softcornered corporate office outfit visual pollution.

room 2207 was transformed from this corporate office into a flexible multipurpose space:
three elements, conjointly sharing 1750 mm as their length to keep things simple.

flat bars
steel bars as habitat for neodym-magnets, are adopting the level of the door-sill; carnauba-waxed surface.

sideboards
low mdf-sideboards are hosting documents, stationery, printer, fon, …
the back is half-open to allow them to distribute data & voltage from the matched wall-sockets.

tables
ultra-thin (8mm) & sharply cut trespa boards on a custom-welded base. rubber-caps provide a smooth gravity-only connection to desktop and terrazzo floor.

tables & sideboards have left the academic environment in july 2013 and were more than happy to have found a new home in seok, kang-hee’s office of ATF architects in jung-gu, downtown daegu.

101 büromöbel »meral«

meike und ralf, beide geografen und vielseitig in der bürgerbeteiligung engagiert, haben uns beauftragt, ein büromöbel für ihren kompakten arbeitsplatz zu entwickeln. enstanden sind zwei unterschiedliche seiten mit gemeinsamen wurzeln. the demanded furniture-unit for the compact twin-office was separated into two individual characters: the volumes of the fat, deep, oiled, black (storage-)boxes and the double-sided-linoleum-coated flying slabs.

zuerst als einteilige, gleiche regalkörper angedacht, hat sich schnell eine asymmetrie eingestellt.

auch hat sich der obere teil vom unteren teil gelöst. die boxen aus schwazem mdf, das gölt und gewachst ist, stehen mit ihren vollauszügen fest auf dem fischgrät des altbaus.

nach oben hin machen sich die gedanken frei. auf tischlerplatten aufgezogen sind zwei verschiedenfarbige desktop beläge (salsa und cornflower). meike hat blau nach oben gelegt, somit sieht am rot von unten, ralf umgekehrt.

45° gefast kann man den sandwich-aufbau gut sehen.

wendbare flatpack-küche aus 3 zuschnitten fassadentafel [holz-verbundwerkstoff] und ein paar z-winkeln aus 10 mm gewachstem stahl verbunden mit gesenkten rostfreien innensechskant-schrauben in geschnittenen gewinden. dann noch 2 oder 3 stahl-stangen als hänge-occasionen für kleingerät & trockentuch und fertig.

die küche wurde für eine ausstellung [»zum gebrauch«] schnell mal daheim abgebaut, transloziert und einer breiteren öffentlichkeit vorgestellt und dann wieder heim. irgendwann später konnte sie ihre lässige versabilität mittels wendbarkeit [von waschbecken links auf waschbecken rechts] anlässlich eines umzugs vorführen. und jüngst ist sie dann noch mal umgezogen. und nimmt nun an ihrem neuen einsatzort um eine achse eingekürzt den dienst auf. mal schaun was als nächstes auf sie zukommt…
